Los Ancestros Espresso, Guatemala

Expect a jammy, maple syrup-like texture with soft, golden raisin sweetness upfront and fresh pomegranate in the finish.

Los Ancestros Espresso is a shining example of the depth and breadth of flavour possible, without necessarily having to blend multiple coffees together.

While the ‘Los Ancestros’ part refers a group of around 13 coffee producers in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, we understand that this particular selection is comprised of outturns from just three producers, each contributing around 1,300kg to this community lot.

These farmers typically have medium-sized farms of around 14.5 hectares on average, located in the mountains near the Mayan archaeological site of Zaculeu – a region of great history, dotted with ancient temples.

We tasted through a number of the different lots that Los Ancestros produced this year before choosing this particular selection as our favourite; so much so that it also formed the basis of our house espresso blend for a time.

Beyond being a blend component, we think this coffee shines spectacularly on its own, and our hope is that you love it as much as we do.
